Trimble launches HCE 2.0 for the Trimble Business Centre application

Trimble has introduced version 2.0 of its Heavy Construction Edition of the Trimble Business Centre data preparation and distribution system.

Designed to interpret and distribute design and material quantity information from any major design package, it allows contractors to take the same design throughout the entire construction process, from the office to the machines.

There is no interruption to the data workflow, from estimation and planning through to the actual construction process.

The Data Preparation Module creates design models from the initial digital data, CAD files or digitised plans. The same design models created in the early project phases can then be used as the basis for work in progress volume calculations, staking out activities and later earthworks.

A new Takeoff module controls mass earthworks, topsoil handling and in-ground demolition works. Detailed reports can be printed, saved or exported for incorporation in a bid package, while estimators can determine bank cut and fill volumes and haulage costs. The HCE 2.0 system is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010.
