ParkingPal system launched at Intertraffic

Making its debut: ParkingPal is on show at Intertraffic for the first time.Parking management is about to enter a new era with the launch of a new solution, being seen for the first time at Intertraffic.

ParkingPal is a parking management system that does away with barriers and its aim is to transform the traditional ‘car park experience’ from one of a distress purchase to the start of a closer, more user friendly relationship between the consumer and the destination.

“It’s about completely rethinking the whole car parking business,” said David Barrington, executive director marketing & commercial for Parking Applications which designed and built the system. “The car park is the first and last experience that customers have (of a destination) and its potential to add value has not been recognised or addressed, until now.”

The system has no barriers but uses licence plate recognition technology to capture images of each vehicle entertaining the car park. The motorist can pay before or after through a range of channels, from cash or card to mobile. They can elect to enter their mobile number into the system in order to receive details of discounts or special offers from the destination.

With a strong element of trust involved, people who abuse the system would be traced through their number plate details and receive a letter initially asking for an explanation.

For the destination owner the system offers a range of benefits starting with a reporting service that gives details of the numbers of visiting cars, their length of stay and how often they return.

Parking Applications has an exclusive agreement with parking systems major Parkeon covering the ParkingPal system.
