Iteris tailors video detection algorithms for McCain QuicTrac

Bill Brown of McCain (Left) Roger Koehler of IterisIteris has announced that it has tailored its video detection algorithms to meet the requirements of McCain’s QuicTrac adaptive control system. The work has been completed in conjunction with the McCain technical service group.

McCain’s QuicTrac adaptive control system, a module of McCain’s QuicNet central control software, recognises individual vehicles as they pass through an intersection, so the system can accurately count and calculate occupancy and speed.

Iteris’ Vantage video detection algorithms were modified to provide the inputs required by the McCain QuicTrac system, such as count and occupancy data from a low mounting height. The McCain and Iteris combined solution for adaptive control has been successfully deployed in San Marcos, California, with several other agencies planning similar deployments in the near future.

“I am pleased to have been working closely with McCain’s engineering team providing them with a solution to meet their Quic Trac Adaptive Control detection requirements,” says Abbas Mohaddes, president and CEO of Iteris.

“Iteris continues to work closely with a range of leading companies, such as McCain, to offer video detection for a variety of applications including adaptive control.”

“The flexibility in mounting location, provided by Iteris’ Vantage video detection system, augments the functionality and adaptability of QuicTrac,” adds, Bill Brown, vice president of business development at McCain.
