MDL targets launch for seven-beam laser array

A new, seven-beam laser array from Measurement Devices (MDL) should be ready for the market in two to three months.

The new system, which can be mounted from any type of gantry, spreads its beams in a fan pattern for greater coverage, detects vehicles and transmits the data to a traffic management centre for processing.

Unlike many existing lasers, says Kurt Gibbings, sales manager laser modules, it has no moving parts, which brings reliability and cost advantages compared to those lasers housed in rotating mountings.

MDL believes it is the only company developing this type of laser detector.
