PALFINGER-PCC57The PCC 57.0002 is Palfinger’s third and smallest crawler crane

The PCC 57.002 is Palfinger’s third and smallest crawler crane, suitable for locations that can’t be reached with a standard mobile crane. It has a maximum reach of 29.5m, a maximum lifting height of 32 m and a maximum lifting capacity of 17.900kg. Weighing less than 22tonnes, it can be transported without any special permissions.

The crane and crawler units can also be separated for transport, and the crane can operate independently of the crawler, either mounted on a truck or on its outriggers. The crane can also propel itself on its own outriggers without the crawler, a process also known as ‘shifting’.

The PCC 57.002, which is available now, can travel on gradients of up to 60%. It could also be useful for tight sites and inner-city locations, according to Palfinger, as it is 400mm narrower than a standard truck.

Looking to the future, Palfinger is developing a semi-automatic hooking system for cranes. Still at protoype stage and with a patent pending, the Intelligent Loading Assist system uses a digital 3D camera and machine learning to detect the item it should lift and then semi-automatically steers the articulated arm to the correct take-up position. The goal is to have a commercial version ready for the middle of 2020.
