First published in Intertraffic Innovation News - June 26, 2020
Exhibitions are cancelled or postponed, personal meetings with business partners are currently not really possible. Swarco has taken an innovative step to inform the industry about its latest developments and innovations. The newly created series of Swarco Innovation Talks are concise and informative webinars taking no longer than 30 minutes. Company experts give insights into the latest products, technologies and solutions that improve the quality of life of all people on the move. The interviews are live-streamed via Vimeo over the website of the Austrian traffic technology group.
The first innovation talk, in a series over the coming months, was broadcast live from the Swarco Traffic World in Wattens, Austria on 4 June and dealt with the topic “How traffic lights monitor the environment”. Swarco Research project manager Dr. Klaus Pollhammer explained in an interview with moderator Richard Neumann plans to provide Combia traffic lights with the novel integrated AirDec unit to measure environmental parameters. These include CO2, particulate matter, NOX, SO2, O3, humidity, sound and temperature. Cities can get a practical overview on the emissions in their urban environment and develop mitigating strategies accordingly.
The second Innovation Talk is scheduled for 1 July at 10 am CEST. Headlined “Swarco X-Line – the intelligent platform for energy-efficient intersections,” Matthias Nolle, Swarco expert for urban traffic control in Germany, will be interviewed. He will explain Swarco’s new approach concerning the design of traffic light controlled intersections with clear advantages for the environment, functional safety and constructional layout. Following the interview, questions webinar attendees posed via the chat function will be answered. All Innovation Talks will be offered in English and German.
Topics for further Swarco webinars over the next weeks include the holistic traffic management platform MyCity and the role of road markings in the age of connected and automated driving.
