Escrypt wins Canada project
First published at ITS America - June 6, 2019
Transport Canada has tabbed Escrypt to develop a nation-wide security credential management system (SCMS) for connected vehicles —recognising the importance of securing V2X data as the technology evolves and becomes mainstream. The era of connected vehicles will require trillions of bytes of data flowing between millions of sensors, devices and vehicles — including potentially personal information of drivers, passengers and vehicle owners. It’s important that this information is secured and protected from malicious actors.
The project will include connected traffic signals that give priority to emergency response vehicles, real-time information about potential hazards such as slippery surfaces, accidents or construction and warnings to advise commercial truck drivers about cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists.
