3M has a major presence here at the Annual Meeting. The company is hosting a panel session at the Pathways to Innovation stage and will also stage demonstrations of the newest pavement markings innovations at its booth.

Yesterday, 3M hosted the Automated Vehicle Safety: The crossroads between technology, policy and infrastructure panel session, bringing together participants from across the connected and automated vehicle ecosystem for a discussion to help bridge the gap between vehicles and infrastructure. It provided the audience with an invaluable insight into automated driving systems, how they interact with infrastructure, and what they can do today to help improve safety on the roadway.

At the 3M booth, wet reflectivity and contrast demonstrations of the company’s Connected Roads Contrast Tape Series 380ADAS and 3M’s Connected Roads All Weather Elements will be staged.

380ADAS provides a 60% increase in visibility distance versus beaded paint products in night-time rainy conditions, and increased contrast of white and yellow lane markings with black edges on both sides – the wider black edges provide a larger contrast target for camera detection at longer distances.

3M’s Connected Roads All Weather Elements, takes pavement markings to new levels of performance for drivers and ADAS systems in virtually any conditions. Importantly, 3M Elements are compatible with most liquid pavement marking binders and install with double-drop systems. Moreover, it requires 20% fewer elements than the previous generation 3M Reflective Elements and is the company’s most efficient optics for liquid pavement markings yet.
