Continental, Amazon executives will deliver keynote addresses

Continental North America President Jeff Klei and Amazon.com VP for Global Innovation Policy and Communications Paul Misener will offer keynote remarks during two headline events at the ITS America Annual Meeting.

The Opening Keynote and Panel: Intelligent Mobility: Safer. Greener. Smarter on Wednesday, 5 June, from 9:45 to 11:00 am will drill down on the conference theme. How will the deployment of new technologies allow us to improve our communities and make the streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and vehicles? In addition to safety benefits, connected and automated vehicles hold the promise of reducing the 90-plus hours a year we sit in traffic as well as our carbon footprint. In addition, the panel will discuss how public entities are integrating new technologies into existing infrastructure and preparing for a future that looks different from today.

Keynote speaker Jeff Klei, President of Continental North America, will kick off the session, which will be moderated by Pete Bigelow, Mobility Reporter, Automotive News, and feature panellists including Gabe Klein, Co-Founder, Cityfi; Sherif Marakby, President and CEO, Ford Autonomous Vehicles; Jeremy McClain, Head of Systems & Technology for the Chassis & Safety Division, Continental in North America; Angel Mendez, Chief Operating Officer, Here Technologies; and Polly Trottenberg, Commissioner, New York City DOT.

The Closing Keynote and Panel: Moving People. Data. Freight on Thursday, 6 June from 9:45 to 11:00 am will explore questions related to how new forms of mobility are transforming how we move. How do people get around today, and how can we make it easier? We have massive amounts of data from vehicles and infrastructure, but how will we harness it to improve safety, reduce congestion, and transform our transportation system? The session will also look at how automated and driver-assisted technologies will help form a connected freight system to drive our economy forward.

Keynote speaker Paul Misener, Vice President for Global Innovation and Policy, Amazon, will set the scene and moderate the session which feature panellists including Joe Bergera, President and CEO, Iteris; Joanna Pinkerton, President/CEO, Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA); Leslie Richards, Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; and Dr Joshua Switkes, Founder and CEO, Peloton Technology.
