EDI demos C-V2X proof-of-concept with iCite

Eberle Design Incorporated (EDI), the leading manufacturer of traffic control electronics with more than five million operational devices in traffic cabinets worldwide, will be demonstrating its EDI iCite Data Aggregator at its booth.

Utilising the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X platform the demonstration is designed as a proof-of-concept to show how a basic safety message (BSM) generated from an industry-standard on-board-Unit (OBU) can be received and translated by an EDI iCite Data Aggregator. It can be communicated in real time to the Flir Acyclica cloud platform where advanced traffic data analytics can be performed. The DA-700P iCite data aggregator can be easily interfaced with any ATC, NEMA TS-1 or TS-2, Type 2070 traffic controller or cabinet architecture to provide additional or redundant BSM monitoring for added motorist and pedestrian safety.

Qualcomm Technologies into many of our core and well-established EDI product line provides additional intersection safety monitoring that can be subject to radio interference previously unknown in signalised intersection operations”, said Dr Bill Sowell, interim president of Eberle Design. “The ease at which EDI devices can integrate with any major OEM’s traffic controllers, cabinets and central traffic management system uniquely positions EDI for future safety enhancements driven by the rapidly emerging connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) initiatives. With the C-V2X enabled data aggregator, we can immediately provide BSM data from any legacy isolated or non-interconnected intersection which is controller and cabinet style agnostic,” he said.
