Intercomp Company is displaying its portable scales and fixed, in-ground Weigh In Motion (WIM) scales which can be used from low speeds to 80mph. The newest NTEP-certified portable static and WIM scales are shown at the Annual Meeting.

These are deployed by states for commercial vehicle screening and enforcement activities. The digital and wireless solutions “take portable weighing into the next generation of scales, increasing productivity and user safety when weighing vehicles”, the firm insists.

Last year, Intercomp celebrated its 40th anniversary of designing and manufacturing portable and fixed scales for weighing vehicles at its location just outside Minneapolis, MN. Its fixed, in-ground WIM scales and sensors are used for axle and gross vehicle weight checking, data collection and pre-selection

on highways and interstates throughout the world.

Using the same technology found in highly accurate static truck scales, they are optimised for rapid vehicle weighing. International visitors may be interested to learn that the WIM scales have received OIML certification, with additional OIML certifications in process for the static portable scales. This enables their use in a variety of legal applications – including tolling by weight and direct enforcement – when approved in certain countries.
