Flowly offers powerful tool for transit operators

For anyone involved in public transportation, a visit to Flowly at the ITS France Pavilion is essential.

A start-up supported by Transdev and BPI, Flowly tracks the flow of travellers allowing public transport managers to optimise, or even redesign, operations.

As the company points out, knowing as much as possible about the use of a transport network or public place through data collected continuously and in real-time, provides a powerful tool.

In the first instance, Flowly collects the passive traces emitted by travellersā€˜ devices during their journey, connected sensors installed in vehicles and/or at stations.

It then compares this data with other sources such as ticketing data, recent surveys, and on-board counting devices. This exhaustive information is treated in real-time and published on a dedicated user-friendly platform.

In this way, operators have easy access to what is happening on their network (real-time mobility flows) and to the global history. It also provides schedule comparison as well as transfer between lines/modes filtered by date, location, and vacation periods, among others.

Developing this technology further and to move beyond operators reacting to events, Flowly is currently working on a predictive process to correlate operational data with other criteria, such as weather, local events, and fraud pre-vision.
