Gewi is in Singapore to demonstrate how it has met one of the major challenges that need to be overcome to realise the benefits of automated driving (AD): ensuring changes in road conditions due to construction, weather or events are properly recognised by the vehicle, to ensurean appropriate AD response.

Gewi’s TIC software, used in 31 countries, can connect data between road agencies, service providers, and vehicles, allowing two-way communication for the sharing of current conditions, restrictions, and more.

In the case of a work zone, road agencies can provide precise real-time roadway data to be applied by the vehicle to ensure safe navigation of changing road parameters.

In return, an AD vehicle can provide road agencies with invaluable data, for example, TIC collecting pothole data from the vehicle to automatically create repair projects based on agency protocols.

Other data, including adverse weather conditions, slippery roads and others, can also be collected by TIC for distribution to drivers through navigation systems, broadcasters, VMS and more.

In addition, TIC can be used by service providers to collect and harmonise data from many other sources, analyse its quality, and provide the highest quality data as a single comprehensive feed.
