Intelematics has chosen ITS World Congress Singapore to launch its high-quality interactive data visualisation portal.

According to the company, policymakers, urban planners, logistics firms – any organisation that moves people and goods around – now can have access to high-quality traffic, weather and Internet of Things (IoT) data.

Relationships between transportation and the economy are very complex and, as a result, are often poorly understood, says Jules Snow, sales and marketing manager of Melbourne, Australia-based Intelematics.

How, for example, do different modes of transport apply to different stages of an individual’s journey? How do traffic incidents and congestion influence a journey?

Intelematics captures data through millions of sensors located on roads, in vehicles and infrastructure.

In the past, it has been a challenge extracting this data to be used in a meaningful way.

But the company’s new portal has been made possible by its recent transition to cloud computing, allowing for more storage and faster processing capabilities than previously.

The portal provides visibility into Intelematics’ extensive traffic data, and maps correlations between the mass movement of people and vehicles with specific events such as weather and traffic incidents.

By diving deeply into the data and looking at how people are moving, Intelematics can enable data-driven decisionmaking based on movement factors.
