US-based Transcore is using ITS World Congress 2019 to highlight its AI1422E Transportation Reader, a recently updated version of the system currently being used in Singapore’s MRT rail system.

The streamlined AI1422E incorporates latest technology while maintaining the functionality of the previous version AI1422.

A rack-mountable unit, it is designed to be installed in on-train electronic cabinets with under-train antennas and tags mounted at fixed positions on the railbed or guideway sleepers.

The reader sends tag data to the train’s host computer for processing.

The updated AI1422E offers both 915MHz and ETSI-compliant models for global use.

The 915MHz model is compatible with TransCore’s 915MHz transportation tags and rail antennas, while the ETSI model is compatible with TransCore’s suite of ETSI-compliant tags and antennas.

Also recently released is TransCore’s MPRX Multiprotocol Reader, an RFID (radio frequency ID) reader designed for harsh environments. It comes in an IP65/67-rated case for dust and water ingress protection in harsh outdoor or rail environments.

It includes Ethernet (via sealed M12 connector), RS422 and RS232 communication protocols, with all interfaces supporting simultaneous host communications in real-time for transmitting read data to the host computer.

The MPRX employs advanced multiplexing techniques to improve reader performance at higher vehicle speeds compared with legacy products, allowing a single reader to manage up to four antennas.
