Wavetronix SmartSensor solving traffic problems

The Wavetronix booth at the ITS World Congress Singapore is focusing on its SmartSensor products, and how a variety of applications can be used in conjunction with this technology to solve difficult traffic problems.

The SmartSensor HD uses dual radar beams for speed trap applications, plus it is able to determine direction of travel, essential for uses such as reversible lanes and wrong-way detection. Wavetronix’s SmartSensor Matrix monitors every vehicle at an intersection, whether moving or stopped, within its field of view. It remembers their positions and can predict future movements for up to 10 lanes of traffic.

This device can also be used for more than basic traffic signal stop bar detection, including applications such as ramp metering and clearance protection.

Its SmartSensor Advance provides dynamic dilemma zone protection by detecting the presence of each vehicle at the approach to an intersection.

Vehicle speeds and locations are measured, and the information used to create a unique estimated time of arrival for each vehicle.

The SmartSensor Advance is also well suited to applications such as low-volume optimisation and advance-warning systems.
