Atlas Copco previews smart light tower system at bauma 2019
First published at bauma - April 11, 2019
Atlas Copco is planning to launch a new smart control system for lighting towers. The SmartMast system will shortly be on offer as an optional extra for installation in the company’s Hilight B5+ light tower.
SmartMast is designed for use in mines, quarries and events. Its features include stability assistance mode where the light mast is automatically lowered to a safe height if the tower is installed on an uneven surface, or a strong wind is vibrating the mast. When conditions improve it is automatically raised again. The full height of the mast is eight metres.
Other features of SmartMast include obstacle detection and a power saving facility to automatically adjust luminosity to programmed levels by reading the amount of light in the operating environment.
