BKT’s new off-highway tyre offering
First published in bauma Preview - March 28, 2019
BKT is widening its off-highway tyre offering, with the addition of a new product aimed at use with rigid dump trucks. The new EARTHMAX tyre has a 3.75m diameter and is 975mm wide, with a weight of 2.4tonnes. The firm says that the tyre is suitable for transporting heavy loads in tough extraction and construction operations, offering high cut-and-chip resistance for a long working life. Impacts, mechanical stress, and punctures are minimised due to the steel-belted casing, which is said to optimise operating hours and maximise productivity. It has a special tread design with a block lug pattern and circumferential grooves, said to reduce external wear while optimising cornering performance. The new 33.00 R 51 tyre has been developed from proven designs and is the largest ever manufactured by BKT. However an even larger tyre is being developed by the firm for launch at a future date.
