CIFA-Magnum MK28E-Hybrid Mixer Pump-13CIFA’s Magnum MK28E, the world’s first hybrid mixer pump

CIFA is pushing forward with its development of clean and green technology with the launch of the world’s first hybrid mixer pump, the Magnum MK28E. The truck runs on diesel but the drum is powered electrically.

“It can pump 15 cubic metres of concrete fully electrically, which equates to two drums of concrete and then you will start to need the engine,” explained Christian Simader, head of research and development for Zoomlion CIFA Germany.

MK28E has a 7m³ drum and a 28m-long boom with the last two sections made of carbon to reduce the weight. The electrically-powered mixer pump can be used when the truck’s diesel engine is switched off. The rotation of the drum, the machine stabilization, the opening and closing of the boom and the pumping of the concrete are all powered electrically.

The machine is part of the Energya range, which now includes an updated Energya mixer which is powered by compressed natural gas rather than diesel. It is not yet possible to power the Magnum MK28E mixer pump with natural gas because it’s too heavy, said Simader.

The Energya range of vehicles will be useful in city centre locations where there is a need to reduce air pollution, said Simader. The machines are already popular in Scandinavian countries due to their more stringent environmental regulations, but CIFA expects demands in other European countries too.
