Deutz is demonstrating under real-life operating conditions prototype telescopic handler prototype machines taken from E-Deutz customer projects.

The company is working with Manitou assemble and deliver the first prototype machines to be fitted with electric drives.

In 2018, Deutz presented a telescopic handler with a hybrid drive and a second with a full-electric drive at Electrip – the company’s investor and press event in Cologne, Germany. The machines are normally powered by a 74 kW Deutz TCD 3.6 diesel engine.

Additionally, Deutz is displaying its modular product kit for diesel, gas, hybrid and electric drives.

In the future, the company will offer a range of different technologies to customers in the construction equipment, fork-lift truck and lifting platform segments.

Deutz says it will design drive systems for customers with combustion engines and those working in the electromobility segment.

Michael Wellenzohn, member of the board of management of Deutz for sales, service & marketing, says: “Our next step is to industrialise these drives and transfer their benefits to our series products.”
