Epiroc CEO Per Lindberg has reiterated the company’s commitment to three major industrial trends: electromobility, digitalisation and automation. Speaking to Daily News, Lindberg said the three trends are gaining ground in the construction and mining machinery industry, with developments in battery technology, digital service portfolios and autonomous solutions ringing in a new era.

“From a company perspective, we see three major trends currently driving the industry: electromobility, digitalisation and automation. We participate in the discussions on the opportunities and challenges of these technologies. With a range of our existing products and solutions, we have shown our commitment to addressing these issues,” said Lindberg.

Lindberg said digitalisation is a key focus area for Epiroc. Regardless of sector, size or history, companies are recognising that the recent improvements in connectivity, control and analytical capabilities have the potential to unlock significant improvements in the cost, quality and productivity of their operations.

Lindberg said automation was an area of continuous development for Epiroc and was a means of helping customers increase their productivity and safety. Electromobility allows machines to work in emission free zones and noise sensitive areas, while offering higher machine efficiency and reduced machine operation cost.

Epiroc has already made significant headway when it comes to the development of these technologies. A case in point is the launch of its battery-driven underground loaders, trucks and drill rigs that are set to offer several benefits for mining companies globally, including improved health and safety, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and lower operating costs.

Epiroc is also showcasing My Epiroc, a new digital platform available on web and mobile devices with new features for increasing fleet efficiency and safety. “Whether you are a fleet manager focusing on uptime, an operator getting the job done out in the field, or a member of the service department staying on top of fleet performance, My Epiroc is made for you to get your work done with speed and efficiency, so that you can focus on what’s important,” said Lindberg.

“We at Epiroc want to help our customers boost productivity, enhance safety and cut emissions, all while lowering the total cost of operation,” said Lindberg. “We are proud to lead the charge towards a digital, electric and autonomous future in the industry.”
