Epiroc updates COPROD drilling technology

Epiroc is introducing new rock drilling technology developed for improved performance and service life.

The first Epiroc product to benefit from the updated COPROD technology is the 89 mm drill string, which now features a complete range of Powerbit drill bits and a more effective head with fewer parts. For drillers, this is designed to enable easier handling, better hole quality, increased penetration rate, lower fuel consumption and improved productivity.

”We aimed to make the new, updated COPROD head and bits even more reliable and cost efficient,” said Johan Thenór, product line manager at Epiroc. “With the new head and a range of long-lasting Powerbits we are convinced that we have met these goals.”

The new COPROD technology allows a more effective energy transfer to the bit, which leads to faster drilling and lower diesel consumption. Epiroc says that improved airflow to the bit front means there is a significantly lower loss of air pressure at the bit.
