Goldhofer-ST2Low profile tyres lower loading height to 80mm

Goldhofer is showing off a series of innovations on its STZ-L 4 prototype trailer, demonstrating several new technologies it plans to introduce in the near future.

The most significant of these innovations are low-profile tyres developed especially for the company that enable loading heights as low as 80mm. The Cargo Plus 60 tyre is approved for an axle load of 10 tonnes at 80kph, and the Cargo Plus 80 for 12 tonnes at 80kph.

The deck of the trailer is coated in a new type of hard-wearing polymer, which offers outstanding resistance to environmental influences such as UV light as well as cargo-related damage, the company claimed. Co-developed by Goldhofer, the coating has a coefficient of friction for load securing that is comparable to rubber matting but thinner and lighter, reducing deadweight by up to 500kg per vehicle compared with rubber matting.

AA new electronic steering system guarantees the optimum steering angle for all situations, taking into account the weight, dimensions, position and length of the load, thereby ensuring maximum manoeuvrability for the low-loader. The steering system is highly flexible and can be adapted to operating conditions and the driver’s requirements.
