Komatsu PC4000-11Komatsu is unveiling the PC4000-11 mining excavator

Komatsu’s PC4000-11 hydraulic mining excavator has a new exhaust after treatment system allowing the giant machine to meet Tier 4 final emission regulations.

Safety is a key feature of the latest PC4000-11 model. Komastu’s new KomVision feature offers the operator a 360° bird’s eye view for safer operation. The whole machine is viewed from above during onsite applications. A monitor in the operator’s cabin shows the full view of the machine and its surroundings. Using a 25.5cm touch panel, the operator can select one of the cameras for a detailed view of a required working area.

Three emergency exits on two sides of the excavator and an emergency cabin roof exit hatch adds to the high safety standard for all PC4000-11 operators, as does a special fitted-as-standard, 19mm thick, impact-resistant front window. The latest PC4000-11 update also includes a new lighting system comprising high-performance working lights that use the latest LED technology. The light provides better visibility for the operator during darker hours. Finally, a new 45° access system give operation and maintenance personnel easier and much safer access to the machine.

The KOMTRAX Plus 2 system, a reliable and proven Komatsu feature, provides real-time information about the PC4000-11 excavator’s operating status. A further highlight of the updated mining model is its fundamentally improved machine control, based on a redundant CAN-Bus system in combination with the Komatsu controller. The tailor-made controller, harmonised with the Komatsu hydraulic pumps and the engine, is said to ensure optimum performance and reliability.
