Steelwrist is launching a work tool management system called ToolRec which will be mounted on all hydraulic and mechanical work tools with S60, S70 and S80 adapter.
The company is also releasing Quantum, a control system for tiltrotators which is expected to improve functionality.
ToolRec allows the machine to know which tools is mounted on the arm end and can automatically change the work tool in the machine control system.
Stefan Stockhaus, CEO of Steelwris, says: “There is less risk for the operator to choose the wrong tool and on top of that he can always locate the position of the work tool through the Quantum App on his smartphone.”
Markus Nilsson, Steelwrist CTO, says ToolRec comes with functions such as service and maintenance alerts to help save money.
The ToolRec module consists of wireless battery powered tool units that communicate with a communication module in the cabin. Battery lifetime is expected to last five years.
The Quantum control system can communicate with external machine control systems like Lecia Geosystems or Trimble.
As part of the Quauntum control system ToolRec will support automatic speed settings in the tiltrotator control system depending on which tool is connected.
The company says it will sell tool recognition stand-alone and will work on all excavators independent of control system
