To keep abreast of developments in digitalisation and advancements of the Internet of Things (IoT) for the construction machinery industry, Zoomlion is developing its own technology park in China. The park, set for completion in 2022, will anchor the Chinese manufacturer’s future machine development strategy.

Dr Zhan Chunxin, chairman and CEO of Zoomlion, believes that digitalisation is one of the major trends shaping the construction machinery industry today. Any forward-thinking equipment manufacturer should have plans to leverage new technologies for the benefit of its customers he argues.

“There is a clear focus on digitalisation in the industry, across all technologies, which highlights the growing trend of digital disruption in the sector. Networked construction equipment, alternative drives and remote controlled machines, among other developments, already demonstrate where the industry is heading,” said Dr Chunxin.

“The reality is that technology is contributing to an evolution within the industry. It’s a far cry from where it was two or three decades ago. Digitalisation has developed to the stage where it is widely accessible – both in terms of cost and ease of use. Technology is bringing in remarkable efficiencies in a wide range of areas – with IoT providing far greater access to the much-needed data,” he added.

The Technology Park will inform Zoomlion’s future machine developments in line with these industry trends. It will support all the various brands in the Zoomlion stable, including CIFA, Powermold, Laudner, m-tec and Wilbert.
