Alliance Tire Americas unveils Galaxy Mighty Trac ND skid steer tyre

A new product from Alliance Tire Americas will enable kid steer loaders to run year-round, and on all materials, without changing tyres. “It’s built for all surfaces, including snow,” Ryan Lopes, ATA national product manager, said of the new Galaxy Mighty Track ND skid steer tyre … the design helps it perform on hard surfaces, loose materials, mud, rock and snow.
The tires have grooves called sipes that help it grip in snow. “Skid steer loaders don’t have snow tires now,” Lopes said. Chains are the only option in colder climates.
The Galaxy Mighty Track ND addresses issues beyond snow. Certain applications would sometimes require changing tyres, which is time consuming and costly as it requires ownership of multiple tire types.
“We talked to a lot of customers who didn’t want to change the tires,” Lopes said. “Rental fleets in particular will benefit, and any owners who have multiple seasons.”
Other features were developed with rental fleets in mind: “We also designed the Galaxy Mighty Trac ND as a non-directional tyre, which enhances performance in both directions and simplifies change-out for large fleets because there’s no ‘wrong way’ to mount the tyre,” Lopes said. The open, non-aligned lug pattern on the shoulders of the Mighty Trac provide extra grip in soft conditions and is highly effective in terms of self-cleaning, he said.
