Caterpillar’s improved dozers offer more productivity

Caterpillar claims increased productivity for its upgraded D3 and D7 bulldozers. Both machines have been reconfigured over the models they replace to boost output.
The D7 features a return to Caterpillar’s trademark high-drive design and is said to shift up to 8% more material/hour than the earlier D7E. Machine weight has been increased by 6% to 29.8tonnes while engine power has been increased by 12% to 197kW at 2,200rpm. The C9.3B diesel also meets the Tier 4 Final/Stage V emissions requirements and can run on B20 biodiesel, while it drives through a fully automatic four speed transmission.
As standard, the machine has a semi universal (SU) blade with a 7.4m3 capacity. The usual range of options are available, including a three-shank ripper. Low ground pressure (LGP) and waste handler versions of the D7 are also available.
