Electric mini excavator from Hyundai
First published at CONEXPO-CON/AGG - March 13, 2020
Hyundai has unveiled its prototype electric mini excavators, the R18E. These 1.8tonne class, all-electric machines should be ready for the market by 2022. Drives comes from induction motors powering the conventional hydraulics, with power from a high output, lithium battery. Quiet in operation, the machine offers zero emissions, suiting it to use in underground car parks or tunnelling jobs, for example.
At this stage, development is ongoing so the working time of the final production machine on a full charge has yet to be determined. This is likely to be the first in a series of electric machines from the company.
