Felling Trailers is demonstrating its Air Bi-fold Ramps, which can raise and lower truck trailer ramps without any hydraulics.
“There are no fluids at all,” said Pat Jennissen, vice president of sales and marketing for the Sauk Centre, Minnesota-based business. “It operates completely on air. There is no external power source.”
The ramps feature an airbag system that uses the same air supply as the brakes. Any air-brake truck can operate the system, which is able to lift in excess of 2268kg.
The ramps also extend before they reach the pavement, Jennisen said. “There’s no scraping or marring of the pavement when the ramp hits the ground,” he said.
The air ramps have lower maintenance costs over time and eliminate environmental issues associated with maintenance, he said.
The company has a patent pending for the system.
