FPT is giving visitors to its stand a peek into future propulsion – the Cursor X 4.0 Power Source Concept, a multi-power unit using natural gas, electric batteries or hydrogen.
The unit is the same size as an internal combustion engine and thanks to its modular architecture, FPT says that it should enable easy assembly, vehicle integration and quick maintenance. Adapted to any kind of industrial vehicle or machine, it has the flexibility to operate in different missions, such as delivery vans, buses, small dozers, crawler excavators, specialty tractors and combines.
The Cursor and the new hybrid version of its F28 Hybrid engine – also on display – highlights FPT’s commitment to alternative propulsion, as well as modular and multi-power powertrains.
The original F28, launched last November, comes in diesel and natural gas versions as well as a hybrid version.
The 2.8litre F28 Hybrid offers enhanced productivity and improved efficiency for compact machinery. With four cylinders in-line, the thermal engine delivers a maximum 55kW of power. Meanwhile, the electric motor adds another 20kW of continuous power and nearly 30kW of peak power. The in-Line, four-cylinder engine has two valves per cylinder and a maximum torque of 375Nm at 1,400rpm.
