Reduced emissions and improved controllability are key features of Bergamp’s improved M310E model

Bergkamp is now offering improved equipment for pavement preservation. Key developments are the new M310E Tier 4 truck-mounted slurry seal and micro surfacing paver with electronic mix control and diagnostic (EMCAD), as well as the new modular spreader box (MSB).

The M310E truck-mounted slurry seal and micro surfacing paver is powered by a Tier 4 Final compliant truck engine. Bergkamp developed the M310E from the original M310 paver, with its proven efficiency and productivity, adding PTO-driven hydraulic pumps to the design that allow elimination of the side engine. This feature, along with the Tier 4 engine, allows customers to reduce their emissions reporting and equipment maintenance needs.

The M310E uses direct-drive hydraulics controlled by the advanced EMCAD System, designed to manage power inputs and electronically control material outputs to maintain mix specification. Standard on the M310E, EMCAD displays current and average material ratios, total material used and material application rates, eliminating manual calculations and simplifying calibration. It self-diagnoses and displays easy-to-read indication lights and diagnostics, reducing troubleshooting and repair time. Less-experienced operators can make adjustments during production without affecting mix accuracy.

EMCAD can produce on-demand and end-of-day reports to track production for individual sections of the job, or the entire job, via an onboard printer. The system allows the operator to control production with simple adjustments, while the driver progresses at optimum speed, boosting productivity.

As Bergkamp’s next generation of variable-width spreader box, the MSB expands and contracts on the fly during operation of the micro surfacing paver, but the MSB is capable of reaching greater width. This provides flexibility for operators performing micro surfacing work on pavements where the width can fluctuate throughout the job. It also eliminates unwanted construction joints and improves pavement driving quality.
