KOHLER-PCV680LE Engine-2 Low ResKohler’s PCV680LE produces low emissions for work in confined spaces

Kohler has launched the PCV680LE low-emissions engine, adding to its Command PRO EFI (electronic fuel injection) range. The twin-cylinder, vertical-shaft engine runs on liquid propane (LP) and has a catalyst in its muffler … the unit offers users a “complete solution,” says the manufacturer.

“This (development) significantly lowers the carbon monoxide exhaust which means they can be use in equipment in confined spaces,” says Benjamin Marotz, marketing manager for Kohler Engines.

Although low-emission LP engines have been on the market for years, previous solutions involved adding a kit to a standard engine. “It’s been a real struggle for customers because when they have had issues with the engines, they didn’t know where to go,” says Marotz. “Now we are supplying a complete solution from our factory. It gives our customers piece of mind and the best quality from an operation and safety perspective.”

The PCV680LE is the first of its kind to be produced at 16.4kW. According to Marotz there has been huge interest from both OEMs and rental shops. Husk Varner has already installed the engine in a floor grinding machine. Kohler will be launching larger engines with the same technology as its customers request them, says Marotz.
