Powerful plate compactors from Ammann
First published in CONEXPO-CON/AGG Preview News - February 19, 2020
Ammann is offering powerful and productive plate compactors. The firm has developed a triple-shaft exciter system for its APH products, the largest plates in the Ammann portfolio. This novel technology is said to make the machines easier to control while increasing power and compaction forces.
The system keeps plate movement consistent even through heavy, cohesive soils and allows steady movement. The system also copes better with steep grades and the firm says its APH machines can climb while backfilling saturated areas. Sizes for the fully hydrostatic reversible vibratory plates APH models range from 350-825kg.
Meanwhile many of the same features are fitted to the simpler APF and APR plate compactors from the firm. The APF Series is for forward-moving vibratory plates with weights from 54-106kg. The APR Series is for reversible vibratory plates and with weights from 100–440kg.
Features for the firm’s plate units include high compaction forces, versatility for a wide range of applications that include soil, asphalt, paving stones and aggregates and fuel options, with a choice of petrol or diesel. Other features include easy operation and comfort, with vibration-limiting handles, high safety, and good serviceability.
