Trimble is now offering its novel Trimble Platform as a Service package to the construction sector.

The firm says that this means contractors can purchase civil construction hardware and software solutions and continually upgrade those with the latest versions from Trimble. Contractors pay a monthly subscription, which also covers technical support.

Should users need to replace hardware tools that are damaged, for example, this is covered as well. Clients have options to take on extra tools in the short term for specific tasks, which are then returned once a job is complete.

Bundled solutions that are available through the service include the Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform, Trimble Siteworks Positioning Systems, Trimble Correction Services and select office software.

Because the technology is evolving so quickly, this service allows customers to ensure that they can keep up to date with the latest hardware and software tools.

“Contractors can now modernise large construction fleets and inventories without a significant initial investment and the assurance that their technology will be continually updated with the latest innovations from Trimble,” said Scott Crozier, vice president, Trimble Civil Engineering and Construction. “This allows them to use their capital to run the business as well as manage technology expenses.”

The Trimble Platform as a Service is expected to be available in the US through the SITECH distribution channel in the second quarter of 2020. It will be made available in Europe next and will be rolled out in other markets in due course.
