Trimble’s WorksOS cloud tool aids workflow integration

Trimble’s latest development connects different technologies more efficiently

Trimble is now beta testing its sophisticated WorksOS, a new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) operating system, with selected customers.

WorksOS is a cloud-based system designed to integrate data from Trimble and other technology providers across a construction project lifecycle. This includes estimating, scheduling, designs and work carried out in the field.

The Trimble WorksOS package is said to offer increased productivity for operations using 3D tools as well as allowing back-office users to view construction progress in real-time.

“We understand the interdependencies of the solutions our customers require to be successful across all phases of construction,” said Mark Schwartz, vice president, Trimble. “Creating a new operating system that supports the jobsite’s basic functions, such as combining simple task management with jobsite productivity, can enable project managers to maximise overall project efficiency. Trimble WorksOS is our new civil construction SaaS-based operating system to deliver connected workflows across the entire construction lifecycle.”

The offering will help site supervisors and project managers who currently have to switch between multiple systems to keep track of daily production quantities, equipment hours and machine maintenance schedules. Using the WorksOS package, customers will be able to log into a single application to view real-time visibility of cut, fill, volume and compaction data to maximise jobsite productivity.

This new offering will allow key personnel, including site supervisors, to adjust daily work targets to ensure work is progressing to plan as expected. Site supervisors will also gain live daily volume calculations, compaction quality metrics and visibility into which machine is working, to monitor progress and determine if the project is on schedule.

Connecting workflows, Trimble WorksOS will integrate Trimble Business Center, Trimble WorksManager, Trimble Siteworks Positioning System, Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform and Trimble PULSE Fleet and Equipment Management Software to bring industry-leading solutions together to benefit all phases of the construction lifecycle.

Trimble WorksOS system is available for select users to participate in a beta program now. The beta period will run through to the third quarter of 2020.
